Care and Repair North East Wales is an independent home improvement agency which is the result of an amalgamation between Flintshire and Wrexham Care & Repair on the 1st April 2015
This was formed as part of a national merger agenda for Care & Repair Agencies which was required by Welsh Government.
In 1996 The Welsh Assembly Government in partnership with Wales & West and Clwyd Alyn Housing Associations established both Flintshire and Wrexham Care & Repair. In 2005 Flintshire Care & Repair became an independent organisation with charitable status whilst Wrexham remained under the Governance of TY Glas a subsidiary of Pennaf Housing Association.
Care and Repair North East Wales is a not for -profit organisation funded by the Welsh Government, Flintshire County Council, Wrexham County Borough Council, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, Wales and West Housing Association, North Wales Fire & Rescue Service and The Big lottery.
Our role is to assist older people over the age of 60 and disabled adults who live in private sector housing by providing advice and practical assistance with regards to repairs, renovations, maintenance and adaptations to their homes enabling them to live independently in a safe, warm and secure home.
This is achieved by a committed team of staff that provides advice on housing repair solutions, home maintenance, security, heating, energy efficiency and possible sources of funding for completing work. Welfare benefits advice is offered to maximise a client’s income, which helps to prevent fuel poverty.
Technical expertise is given on all aspects of building works including the selection of suitable builders, effective tendering to compare prices and the monitoring of works whilst on site.
The agency maintains a register of reliable contractors and consultants for ordering work and referring to clients. Care and Repair North East Wales strives to support the local economy, where possible.
A “Healthy Homes Check” is carried out with clients that are visited. It is a simple check to ensure that any present or potential maintenance, repair or adaptation works are brought to your attention.
